The Moment Everything Got Real

Then COVID hit.

Sponsors ghosted. Ad revenue tanked. 80% of our income disappeared in a month.

At the same time, our Amazon business was falling apart in its own way. Our manufacturer in China had taken our product listing, started selling it themselves for less, and pushed us out of our own rankings. That income vanished too, over the course of a couple of months. Two separate income streams, both collapsing at once, for two completely different reasons.

We remember sitting there realizing we had two choices: panic, or finally build something that was ours, something that didn't rely on trends, ad dollars, sponsors' budgets, or constant hustle.

Out of that moment of fear and prayer, we launched our first course and coaching program: YouTubepreneur. Neither of us felt qualified. Hayley wasn't a "top creator" or a sales expert, and Doug had never sold a course in his life. Hayley told Doug not to show her the sales numbers until midnight because she was sure no one would buy.

He lasted a few hours before he couldn't keep it in. We'd made $40,000 in the first three hours.

What We Really Needed Wasn’t More Followers

It wasn't just the money. It was realizing we didn't need to outsource our kids to chase "success." We didn't need a massive audience or brand deals to build something real.

What we actually needed was to own what we built, instead of renting our income from an algorithm or a sponsor's mood that week. We needed a business with real priorities behind it, one that put our faith and our family first instead of asking us to choose.

We reinvested almost everything we made into coaching and learning how to build evergreen funnels that sold without either of us being "on" all day. We simplified everything. We worked during naps and late nights, trading off so someone was always with the kids. And for the first time, the business actually fit around our family, instead of stealing us from them.

Why we really do this...

The truth is, we don't just teach business.

Because building a business that gives you time back is only half of it. If you don't know what to do with that time, you're still going to feel stretched thin.

We both grew up watching our parents give everything they had to provide for us, just in different ways. Hayley's mom worked full-time as a nurse, which meant a lot of Hayley's childhood was spent in daycare. Doug's mom stayed home, but his dad worked long hours well into his sixties to make sure the family had what it needed. We're both deeply grateful for the sacrifices our parents made. We also both grew up wanting something different: to be around, not just to provide.

But we also weren't naive. We still needed income, and we didn't want to just scrape by. That tension is what shaped our mission: we believe you can pursue your dreams and the calling God's put on your life while still keeping your family first. But you can't do it without intention, without real systems behind you, and without aligning your plans to His design.

That's what we teach now. Not just how to grow a YouTube channel, but how to build a real business that serves your family instead of stealing you from it. Not just how to sell courses, but how to create offers that actually help people. Not just how to get your time back, but how to use it well, so you're building a home and a life that's peaceful, purposeful, and grounded in faith.
